Foundation Proper
application of foundation begins with a moisturizer. Always moisturize
before applying foundation or base. It makes it flow smoothly over
the skin for a more even and well blended appearance.
Be sure to blend your foundation
around the hairline and jaw. I have lately become fond of using
make-up wedges. They provide a neat blended line and you don't wind
up with fingers full of makeup. However, a certain amount of foundation
is wasted as it is soaked up into the sponge.
Selection of a proper foundation shade can be difficult. Test foundation
along your jawline. It should blend easily into your natural skintone.
Beware of winter pales.
You might find you need a slightly darker shade of makeup for summer.
Amount of coverage is a personal preference. Use cream or long-wearing
foundations for heavier coverage. Use lotions or tinted moisturizers
for lighter coverage. A tinted moisturizer works well for summer
but may not last as long.
