Let me first start this article with an apology. Hair Care is most definitely NOT my specialty. The best advice I can offer is for you to remember that less is sometimes more

Now, I'm not referring to the quantity of hair and am certainly not recommending that you all go out and shave your heads. I'm referring to less fussing sometimes results in a more desirable look.

My hair and I came to an uneasy truce along about my 21st year. Having been blessed (cursed?) with a huge head of extremely naturally curly hair, we came to an agreement. I would quit trying to force it to do things that it

didn't want to do, if it would agree to look good at least once a week. I finally discovered mousse and a good hairdresser.

It wasn't until I was around 25 that a friend of mine finally told me what I was really doing wrong. Contrary to what your mother always taught you, if you have naturally curly hair, NEVER brush it, except for immediately prior to washing. Use hair picks and your fingers, but never a hairbrush or a fine-toothed comb, it will only result in the frizzies

Hair gel and leave-in conditioner is what works best for me. If you don't like the stiffness of gel, try mixing it with a little leave-in conditioner prior to applying. This will give you a softer hold.

No matter what your hair type, rarely do people seem to be happy with the hair they were born with. That's human nature, I guess. So, next time you're staring in the mirror wishing your hair had more curl, just remember, there's probably someone out there wishing they had less.
