Alaskan Men
Why, you might ask yourself, would I put this article under the heading of Betty's faves? Well, I say, what better place could there be?

You may have heard that in Alaska, the men outnumber the women 10 - 1. Although that may have been true at one time, in recent years the population is much more balanced. That's not to say that there aren't plenty of eligible bachelors to be found here, but be aware that Alaskan men are an unusual lot.

Alaskan men, especially those to be found in Fairbanks and in the more Northern areas, are definitely men in the truest sense of the word.

They are rugged and outdoorsy, and often more than a little rough around the edges. The vast wilderness attracts hunters and fisherman, skiiers and snowmachiners, and anyone who likes a little extra privacy to do what they want, when they want, without having to worry about the neighbors.

That's not to say that intelligent and sophisticated men can't be found, but if that's what you're looking for, your best bet is to stay in the more civilized (aka populated) areas of the state. If you find one that remotely fits this description, may I be so bold as to suggest that you snatch him up quick, because he won't remain a bachelor for long.
